New Era BlueBox AdBlue® is a high‑purity Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) that conforms to ISO 22241 for use in diesel vehicles with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems, including cars, vans and light commercial vehicles in the UK. AdBlue® from BlueBox is injected from a dedicated AdBlue® tank into the exhaust system ahead of the SCR catalyst, where it converts into ammonia (NH₃) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) to help reduce harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions and keep your diesel vehicle Euro 6 compliant.
Our BlueBox AdBlue® packaging replaces traditional rigid AdBlue® containers and drums with a 10L AdBlue box that significantly cuts plastic waste compared with conventional 10 litre AdBlue packs. The fully recyclable, UN‑tested, and approved AdBlue in a box format is weatherproof, easy to stack and store, and ideal for convenient AdBlue top‑ups at home or on the road.
Each 10L AdBlue BlueBox includes an extendable pouring spout designed for clean, spill‑free filling of your AdBlue tank via the blue filler cap, whether it is located next to the fuel cap, in the boot or under the bonnet. The inner bag collapses as you pour, pushing the AdBlue out smoothly with no “glug”, reducing the risk of spills and making it a fast, efficient, and convenient way to refill AdBlue anywhere.
What is AdBlue®?
AdBlue® is a legally mandated Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) used in diesel vehicles fitted with an SCR system to reduce NOx emissions and meet Euro 6 emissions standards. It is stored in a separate AdBlue reservoir and topped up via a blue AdBlue filler cap, and although AdBlue® is a registered trademark of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), it is widely used as the common name for DEF in the automotive industry.
Why do I need AdBlue®?
Under Euro 6 emission standards, the maximum permitted NOx emissions for diesel vehicles are 80 mg/km, and AdBlue is required in vehicles that use a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system to achieve these low NOx levels. By injecting AdBlue into the exhaust stream, the SCR catalyst converts nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water vapour, helping diesel cars and vans comply with Euro 6 regulations and low‑emission zone requirements in the UK.
